Tomakin's Rally for Recovery loves helping children with cancer, but take a sneak peek at who loves it back.
Longstanding volunteer Truda Ward loves keeping tabs on loyal supporters of this charity op shed, such as Kim Parkin, of Broulee, who not only “just loves books, she always returns them after she has read them”.
“Kim says that she loves to support Rally for Recovery because we do such a good job and she will always find, not just her beloved books, but lots of interesting things,” Truda said.
Another regular snapped recently was Betty Andrews.
“Betty just comes because she wants to help find a cure for cancer,” Truda said.
“She found this cute duck as a perfect present for her granddaughter.”
Kim Bingley, of Broulee, can’t resist Rally.
“Kim never misses Rally as she just loves finding bargains,” Truda said.
“Kim says, ‘if what I am looking for is not here on Wednesday, I will find it on Saturday and the volunteers are all fantastic, especially the raffle lady’.”
The Ainslie Parade charity is appealing some strong backs to help its ageing crew.
“All of our volunteers are over 50 years of age, with the majority being over 60 years old and some over 70 years old,” organisers said.
“As there is a lot of heavy bulky lifting, we need young energetic people.
“We operate every Wednesday and Saturday, from 9am-noon.
“Setting up is from 7am and packing up is from noon.
“If you could spare one or two hours on any of those days please call Ken on 0406 363 166.”
