About 200 people took to the pavement for the 5.5 kilometre walk at Corrigans Beach Reserve, with many dressed in blue t-shirts emblazoned with the powerful slogan ‘Never Give Up’.

First to cross the finish line was Narooma’s James Ratcliffe, who had seen the effects of the condition first hand.

The Ratcliffes recently marked two years since the passing of father and husband Matt, whose life was cut short at the age 43 after a long battle with MND.

Widow Steph Ratcliffe said it was important for the community to support MND awareness and research.

“There’s a lot more awareness now than there used to be and I think it’s good for people to come out and support people with the disease,” Ms Ratcliffe said.

“MND is quite isolating, so it’s nice for them to see other people care and want to make a difference and find a cure.”
