There were 73 participants in a nine hole Stableford event conducted in three divisions:
A Grade
First place: Ken Evelyn (handicap 17) with 20 points
Second place: Ian Drew (15) 18 points
B Grade
First place: Robert Picknell (23) with 20 points ocb
Second place: Allen Sterling (23) 20 points
First place: Don Castles (29) with 23 points
Second place: Jim Lorimer (31) 20 points
The distribution of balls went to 17 points
Nearest the East Coast Carts pin on the 25th was:
Dennis Walsh in A Grade, Peter Watson in B Grade and John Newman in C Grade.
Moruya Saturday Golfers
The Monthly Medal event was played on Saturday with the following results:
A grade Medal winner with 71 nett was Rick Monopoli.
A grade Medal runner up with 72 nett was Greg Ganderton.
A grade Gross winner with a score of 72 was Aaron Monopoli.
B grade Medal winner with 76 nett was Peter Mylott.
B grade Medal runner up with 76 nett on a count back was Jim Marsden.
B grade Gross winner with a score of 88 was Mitchell Smith.
C grade Medal winner with 67 was Nathan Cullen.
C grade Medal runner up with 71 nett was Stephen Winchester.
C grade Gross winner with a score of 92 was Terrence Toll.
The Golden Shot was won by Nathan Cullen.
Nearest the pins on the sixth hole were:
B. Taylor, Kye Parkes and Dylan Staunton.
Nearest the pins on the tenth hole were:
Mick Jonhston, Rick Monopoli and Paul Kelsey.
Nearest the pine on the twelth pin were:
Chris Galvin, Kye Parkes and Ross Hoskins.
The ball rundown went to 78 on countback.
Narooma Ladies Golf
Wednesday 2nd August was a Par event and the winner of Division 1 was T. Wilson with -2 on a count back.
Division 2 was won by J. Whyte with square.
On the fifth hole S. Donohoe had an Eagle, fantastic effort.
The Nearest the Pin on the 3rd hole for Division 2 was M. Clarke and on the 17th hole for Division 1 was S. Donohoe. Division 3 on the 9th hole no one made the green. Balls went to -5 on a count back.
Friday the 18th August is Legacy Day. All visitors are welcome to play, golfers and non-golfers. Come along join in the fun and help raise money for a very worthy cause.
Winner of Division 1 was T. Wilson and Division 2 winner was J. Whyte.
Tuross Head Country Club
The monthly medal competition held at the Tuross Head country club is always a keenly contested event even more so this week as it was the first round of the annual triathlon event.
Held over three divisions winners were Paul Ferguson whose stroke round of a net 71
resulted in a win for him in A grade with Jason Nikolic filling second placing with 74.
Greg Ware, who was also the day’s sponsor, won B grade with a net 72 closely followed by Bruce Martin with 73 strokes.
C grade was awarded to Terry Milliken with a low 67 strokes.
Paul Israel was second with 73 strokes.
Colin Houghton had the lowest off the stick score with 75.
A putting competition, held in conjunction with the main event, as won by Dave Bray
with 25 putts.
The Golden Shot award, for the closest second shot on the second par 4 hole, was won by Colin Houghton with 2.65 m.
The coming Saturday event at Tuross Head is the Scoty single stableford
Nearest the pins were:
A grade player Paul Ferguson was closest on the 4th hole with 2.94 m.
Ian Lawson won the 6th with 1.67 m and
Leigh Coloe the 7th hole with 10.00 m.
B grade best on the 4th was John Phyland with 2.26 m. and
Martin Booth was awarded the 6th with 3.53 m
C grade golfer John Sands won the 4th hole with 2.24 m and
Bruce Brawn was best on the 6th with 4.00 m.
Thursday’s stableford medley competition was won by Ian Miller with 42 points from Ian Manton 38, Colin Houghton 37 and Herb Muriwai 36 points
TUROSS HEAD LADIES GOLF
On Tuesday 18 ladies played their 6th medal round as well as the first round
of the championships for 2017. The medal winner with a lovely score of 73
net was - Lyn Benger. Division one winner was - Marie Muriwai with a 74 net,
followed by - Chris Wratten with a 83 net. Division two winner was - Annette
Manton with 75 net, followed by - Pam Alexander with 77 net. In division
three it was - Jennifer Gray with 79 net, followed by Elsa Shearer with 82
net. Marie Muriwai had the best off the stick score with 93 gross. The
Putting competition was won by - Lyn Benger with 28 putts. It was certainly
Lyn's day. Nearest the pin on the sixth was won by - Jeanette Miller and the
Golden hole for division one went to - Leonie Snodgrass & in division two it
was - Beverley Theobold. Next week the ladies will play round one & two over
two day's of the championships.
TUROSS HEAD VETERANS GOLF
Wednesday's game was a par event, not one of our most favourite games, with
50 starters. The winner was - David Williams with a very nice +5. Second
place went to - Graham Pratt with a + 4 after a countback from Bruce Ware
also with a + 4. The Bradmans was won by - Denis Benger and the Accuracy
drive went to - Noel Downie. Nearest the pins - fourth - Ken Brown. Sixth -
Richard Kelly. Seventh - Ann Ware & Andrew Gordon (in the hole) Ball or
chocolate went to - Noel Fletcher, Sandra Hanlon +2. Jennifer Gray, Andrew
Gordon, Margaret Downey, Des Jackson +1. Anna Heuston, Ray Downey, Gail
Rogers, Al Gannon all square. Next week will be a single stableford event as
well as the Vet's A.G.M.

102 players took to the field where the challenging pin positions limited the scoring - the DSR was 73/72. In A Grade Peter Ward registered 39 points from his handicap of 10 to win by one point from Laurie Holmes, Mark Anderson took third place with 35 points on countback from Graham Kerr and Colin Holmes. In B Grade Simon Carr filled the top spot with 39 points off a handicap of 14 to win by two points from Bill Swan and Glenn Mood. Bruce Day took out C Grade with 39 points from a handicap of 23. Captain Peter Jones confirmed his authority to take the second place with 38 points ahead of Vice Captain Steve Richards on 36 points. The nearest-the-pin winners were Laurie Holmes on 3, Paul Stokes on 9 and 17, with Glenn Mood on 14, while the ball competition went down to all on 32 points.
Saturday August 5
127 played stroke to a DSR of 72 for the August Monthly Medal. A Grade resulted in a three-way countback on 73 net, where Matt Corbett off a handicap of 4 edged out Bill Durnan and Bill Hannam. In B Grade Chris Eardley broke through with a fine score of net 68 off his handicap of 19 to head Jeff Kelly from Keperra in suburban Brisbane by two shots and Bill Swan by four shots. In C Grade Trevor Breust won very clearly with net 65 off his handicap of 23, winning the Monthly Medal by three shots. Peter Elliott took second place with 69 net , one shot better than Richard Bodell. The nearest-the-pin winners were Derek Moritz on 3, Gary Leahy on 9, Bill Swan on 14 and Rick Porter on 17, while the ball competition went down to all on 76 net.
