A hall full of members attended the Batemans Bay Garden Club July meeting – surprising because it was followed by the AGM.
After completing the business of July, members were again treated to a delicious afternoon tea.
The exhibit tables were reasonably well supplied with various blooms and potted plants. The standout was the floral art display, with a range of beautiful specimens. The ladies create displays under the tutelage of Nicholie Tuan and meet on the last Tuesday of each month at the Mens Shed (Batehaven) at 1:30pm.
Outgoing President, Peter French, thanked and congratulated the (outgoing) committee on their performance and dedication to the prosperity of the club. The club is in a sound position, both financially and in respect of member numbers and participation.
The incoming committee is comprised of Magda Smyth (President), Peter French (Vice-President), Anne Kirkness (Secretary), Helen Wearn (Treasurer) and committee members, Laurine Alves, Sandra Martin, Barry Hart, David Kemp, Dorry Jurisic and Jackie McKimmie.
Fifty-seven members are eagerly anticipating their coach trip to the Tulip Farm in September. The farm has an extensive garden of tulips, which surround and enhance a range of blossoming trees to create a stunning display. We will also enjoy lunch at the garden.
The next meeting is on August 31, at 2pm, in the hall of the Anglican Church. Guests are always welcome to join us and see if they would like to join the club.
