
Police have pepper sprayed a man with an axe following a domestic assault in Tuross Head on Monday morning.
Officers were called to the residential address just after 6.30am on July 17 and found a 50-year-old man in an “agitated state holding an axe”.
“Police attempted to negotiate with the man for a period of time. He was eventually arrested after being subdued with capsicum spray,” police said.
The man was treated by paramedics before he was taken to Batemans Bay Police Station and charged with six offences, which included: malicious damage, aggravated break and enter with intent, armed with intent to commit an indictable offence, use an offensive weapon to prevent apprehension, resist arrest and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He was refused bail and will appear in Bega Court on July 18.
