The Moruya District Hospital Auxiliary has gifted the Moruya District Hospital items to the value of $55,692, for equipment and facilities, in the 2016/17 financial year.
The equipment and facilities were distributed through all of the hospital’s departments, for the comfort and care of patients.
Auxiliary honorary secretary Kath Smith said all items would remain at the hospital and the auxiliary were proud to be able to support patients and staff at the hospital.
She thanked the community for its ongoing support.
“Our next big fundraising event is a two-day book fair,” Ms Smith said.
The fair will be at Shop 4, Moruya Square – next door to the IGA – from 9am to 3pm on Friday, August 4 and 9am to 1pm on Saturday, August 5.
“There will be lots of great books to buy,” Ms Smith said.
“Saturday will include a stall with jams, pickles, relishes, sauces and some great beanies, bed socks and scarves for sale to help you get through this cold winter.”
She said donations over $2 were tax deductable and 100 per cent of donations were used to purchase equipment for Moruya District Hospital.
The auxiliary also held its AGM with the new executive voted in: president Lyn Rixon, secretary Kath Smith, treasurer Chris Smith and vice-presidents Wendy Schmid and Julie Corkin.
Moruay and Batemans Bay Hospitals director of nursing and midwifery Leanne Ovington attended the AGM to thank the auxiliary for its fundraising efforts.
“The auxiliary is always on the look out for new members,” Ms Smith said.
“If you want to be a part of a friendly, active and welcoming group, come along and find out what we are about.
She said volunteering was gratifying.
“You may ask what skills you can bring,” Ms Smith said.
“Knitting, craft, sewing, cooking, selling raffle tickets, work on street stalls, filling vending machines, administration - it's endless and we appreciate help."
The auxiliary will also hold a matinee at the Kinema in September, and a fair at Tuross and an open garden in Moruya in October.
