Hole in one prize
A hole in one is when a ball hit from a teeing ground finishes in the cup. This awards the player a score of one for the hole. Holes in one most commonly occur on par 3 holes, the shortest distance holes.
Actuaries at insurance companies calculate the chance of an average golfer making a hole in one at approximately 12,500 to 1, and the odds of a tour professional at 2,500 to 1.
So it causes great excitement when a local golfer achieves this special feat. The winner not only has his name recorded on the Club Honour Board and wins six balls for the hole in one and two balls for nearest to the pin but also gets to choose a watch from the extensive range at Prouds Jewellers in Batemans Bay.
Rick Cuming is the most recent hole-in-one winner scoring on the 14th hole on June 10. Rick is a regular player in weekday, weekend and veterans competitions and played to a handicap of 15 on the day.
