The threatening weather held off to make for favourable running conditions at this week’s Batemans Bay parkrun. We had 82 runners and welcomed a substantial number of visitors and first timers.
First over the finish line was local runner Daniel Beby, in a time of 16:52, and the first female over the line was Rebecca Brown, in a time of 19:24. Another highlight for this event was the tight tussle between a few of our seasoned local runners leading to some sprint finishes for bragging rights. Congratulations on that entertaining competition Anthony Miles, Peter Counsell, Morgan Pettit, Allan O’Neill and Gary Ashton. They all finished within 11 seconds of each other.
A huge thank you to our volunteers this week – Debbie McCartney, Neville Madden, Kate Halton, Yma Carnall, Gail Legg, Jesse Cameron and Jill Brown. No volunteers means no parkrun, so we’re very grateful to anyone that puts their hand up and especially thankful for our small band of frequent volunteers.
All runners and walkers are welcome to join us on the 5km course. We meet every Saturday morning at 7.50 am for the 8.00 am race start. You can register online at www.parkrun.com.au to obtain a barcode which you must bring along with you every week to get a recorded result.
The venue is Rotary Park near the Marina roundabout in Batemans Bay.
