School kids at The Bay left their uniforms at home and paid the price.
Students at the Batemans Bay High School, Batemans Bay Public School, Sunshine Bay Public School and St Bernard's Primary School each donated a gold-coin to dress up – or down, depending on your point of view – for a mufti-Friday with a football theme.
All for a good cause.
The money collected will assist with Eli Chatfield’s medical costs. The 11-year-old Bay Public school student and Junior Tiger’s player is receiving treatment for brain cancer in Sydney Children’s Hospital.
Batemans Bay High School special ed’ teacher Rebecca Pleasant said the schools jumped at the chance to be involved.
“The students wanted to do more to raise money,” Ms Pleasant said.
“We’ve already raised a significant amount.”
News of Eli’s plight has spread fast through a gofundme page and a facebook page Fighting for Eli set up by the Bay Tigers Junior Football Club. The Go Fund Me page has so far raised more than $8,000: www.gofundme.com/fighting-for-eli
