When the Eurobodalla mayor met with the NSW planning minister she made clear her frustration at lengthy delays in signing off the shire’s Rural Lands Strategy.
Councillor Innes said she was grateful for the community’s patience but enough was enough and she was forcefully but respectfully requesting a response, following her meeting with Anthony Roberts on Wednesday, May 31.
"We submitted the planning proposal that will allow us to implement our Rural Lands Strategy to the Department of Planning in August 2016,” Cr Innes said.
“While their officers are seemingly reviewing a strategy they were part of developing, our community continues to wait with no explanation about why or what the issues might be.”
Cr Innes said the planning proposal either complied with statutory and policy requirements or it didn’t.
“Either way, these are facts that are easily determined and should have been communicated to us months and months ago,” she said.
She said the Rural Lands Strategy was started five years ago and residents with land stuck in a holding pattern for that time deserved better.
