The Eurobodalla lost a community stalwart following the death of water garden pioneer Bill Blayden on Monday.
The 91-year-old passed away on May 29 at The Glen in Catalina, but his legacy lives on in Batemans Bay.
Mr Blayden was an avid horticulturalist and was a pivotal member of the Batemans Bay Horticultural Society, driving the development of the Batemans Bay Water Garden.
The park opened in 2001, giving residents and tourists a space to enjoy native trees and wildlife.
Mr Blayden enjoyed 69 years of marriage to wife Edna, whom he met after his return from service with the Australian Air Force in WWII.
His children, Elizabeth and Keith, extended family and friends will remember him in a service held today.
