Jackie Harding got the surprise of her life when she arrived at Club Catalina Club and found members of several community groups lying in wait.
Gathered were members of Batemans Bay Lions Club, AFL representatives, Snowy Hydro Southcare, Batemans Bay Indoor Aquatic Centre, Batemans Chamber of Commerce and Industry, family and friends.
The surprise got bigger for the president of Batemans Bay Lions Club when she realised the guests were assembled for to see her presented with an award.
Bega MP Andrew Constance named Mrs Harding the 2017 Local Woman of the Year Award on Friday, March 24.
Apart from her work with the Lions Club, which can include everything from renovations to cooking sausages, Mrs Harding is a dedicated fundraiser for many community groups.
She can often be spotted at street stalls raising funds for Snowy Hydro Southcare and has been a keen lobbyist for a Batemans Bay year-round swimming pool.
