Batemans Bay Probus Club welcomed the installation of Jan Wright as the new president of the club during the annual changeover luncheon held recently. Immediate past president, Ron Magus, wished Jan and the new management committee all the best for the year and thanked the 2016 committee for their support.
Speaking at the luncheon, Jan said “I hope that our members will enjoy the program offered by the club this year. I encourage you all to join in the various social activities and outings we will be holding throughout the year, in addition to attending our monthly meetings”.
The presidents of the Narooma, Moruya and Tollgates Probus Clubs also attended the luncheon.
Guest speaker was Sarah Leaver, who entertained us with the ups and downs of her career as a pilot instructor in the 1970s. In contrast to the wonderful mentorship and support of her father, who raised her and encouraged her aviation career, she spoke of the uphill battles she had to fight against misogyny to gain employment as a pilot instructor.
The next meeting of the Probus Club of Batemans Bay will be held at 10:00am on Monday 27 March 2017 at the CWA rooms, 158 Edward Road, Sunshine Bay. Probus is a social club for active retirees. If you would like more information about Probus, please contact Jan on 4472 7054.
