The January meeting of the Batemans Bay Horticultural Society (Garden Club) was held on Australia Day and was well attended by members who had not been together since our very successful Christmas luncheon in November.
The lunch was enjoyed by 80 plus members who sat down to a variety of cold meats and a wide range of salads (provided by the club). This was followed by an absolutely delicious range of desserts (provided by club members). Unfortunately our Club Patron, Margaret Sirl, was unable to attend.
Between the two courses, members were presented with trophies for their exhibits/displays on the tables at meetings.
At monthly meetings, members vote for their choice exhibit in each class, with votes tallied and accumulated over the year.
The winners in 2016 were: Own grown Jan Clement; Flower of the Month Jan Clement; Floral Arrangement Tonnie van den Broek; Potted plant Magda Smyth; Edible Pauline Perry; Overall Winner Jan Clement.
Thirty plus members are eagerly looking forward to our coach trip to Goulburn, Crookwell and Mount Annan botanic gardens in March.
We are also planning a garden visit in the next two weeks.
Our next monthly meeting will be on Thursday, February 23, starting at 2pm, with visitors always welcome.
