Braidwood trainer Richard Clarke’s Coolcat Dancer has made it two wins from as many starts at the Moruya Jockey Club in 2017, taking out the Showcase Moruya Cup (1660m) on Monday.
The gelding streaked ahead in the straight to win by two lengths ahead of Narooma Cup winner Marquee.
Clarke said it was a strong step up for the six-year-old.
“It was a pretty good effort to win like that in open class company,” he said.
“He really toyed with them on the straight and ended up with dominant victory.”
It was only two weeks ago that Coolcat Dancer was first past the post in race eight, the Class 3 1650m Handicap at the Narooma Cup.
Clarke said the sky’s the limit for his charger.
“He definitely travels well,” he said.
“I have to look at what is coming up, but I think he might be going well enough to contest the Wagga Cup or something like that.”
Sydney jockey Grant Buckley had the winning ride.
