Staff at many country newspapers are mourning the loss of a giant of the industry with the death of Jim Woods at the age of 103.
Three generations of the Woods family have been involved in publishing and Jim has left his fingerprints on many newspapers, including our own Bay Post/Moruya Examiner.
His 66 year career started as a paper boy at the Temora Independent, and along with the Bradley and Shakespeare families he went on to have proprietorial interests in numerous mastheads across Southern NSW, the Monaro and the South Coast.
Jim was a partner in Southern Publishers (based in Bega) which founded the Batemans Bay Post and Narooma News. He will be farewelled in Queanbeyan on Tuesday.
