Excellent sailing conditions are forecast for Batemans Bay Sailing Club’s Platinum Blinds and Awnings Regatta this weekend.
There will be sunny skies and a big nor’easter blowing both days of the regatta.
On Saturday afternoon the fleet will sail a long race around the pentastar course which visits all five corners of Batemans Bay.
On Sunday afternoon there will be two sprint races.
The pentastar course features 12 legs over a 17-nautical-mile distance while each four-nautical-mile sprint race has five legs.
The racing will be demanding on crews with many opportunities for things to go wrong.
The club’s regular yacht racing fleet will be out in force with the likelihood of one or two possible visitors from Jervis Bay.
The breezy conditions are expected to favour the biggest boats in the fleet such as the X 45 “Xanthia” and the Foundation 36 “Apostrophe”.
The regatta dinner will be held at Baetmans Bay Sailing Club clubhouse on Saturday night.
