Eurobodalla libraries joined organisations at 11am from Broome to Hobart, reading the picture book Too Many Elephants in this House by Ursula Dubosarsky and Andrew Joyner to more than 140,000 children across Australia.
Children of all ages, their parents and grandparents attended the Moruya library where they were read to by librarian Andy Wilson.
The 14 children in attendance also made craft around the theme of elephants and wore elephant ears.
In the weeks leading up to the event, children who attended weekly story time decorated elephants to display throughout the library while ‘Too Many Elephants in this House’ was read.
National Simultaneous Storytime 2014 aims to celebrate and acknowledge the vital work being done in libraries, schools and communities around Australia to develop young people's literacy and numeracy skills.
