Police are gravely concerned for the safety of Mr Jeacle, who went missing from his Tomakin Place home around midnight on Sunday.
Mr Jeacle is father to three children, aged 12, 38 and 39, and is the managing director of Canberra-based electronic data interchange company Byteload Pty Ltd.
Speaking on behalf of his distraught family, Naomi Jeacle yesterday described her ex-husband’s disappearance as “very out of character”.
“He loves his family,” she said.
“We just don’t understand how or why this has happened.”
Mrs Jeacle said one of Mr Jeacle’s daughters was with him the day he disappeared.
“She said he had been behaving a bit erratically that day,” Mrs Jeacle said.
“It’s just very unusual circumstances.”
Mr Jeacle, a keen fisher, is a member of the Tomakin Sports and Social Club Fishing Club and an avid golfer.
“He enjoys walking, he loves fishing and playing golf,” Mrs Jeacle said.
“He is a fit and healthy man without health concerns.”
Mrs Jeacle said her family was doing their best to remain positive.
“We’re holding out hope that he will simply walk back through the door,” she said.
“His children and his grandchildren just want him to come home safely - we all do. His family loves him very much.”
Police commenced a search of the local area on Monday and are appealing to the public for assistance.
Mr Jeacle is described as being Caucasian in appearance, 180 centimetres tall, of medium build with brown to greyish short hair and a moustache.
It is believed he left home on foot wearing black shorts, a yellow T-shirt and carrying reading glasses.
Anyone with information is being urged to contact Batemans Bay Police Station on 4472 0099 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
“If anybody’s got anything, any little thing that they might have noticed, even if they think it’s silly, please come forward,” Mrs Jeacle said.
“He is an outgoing, fun-loving man whose family loves him very much.”
