Williams, a Life Member of the Sharks, is their most successful coach, having won premierships in 1989, 1998, and more recently in 2013.
“We are excited to have Neil back in charge as he is very good at getting the best out of his charges and will provide great direction and mentoring for our young players,” Club President Dave Farrell said.
“Neil has the respect of all of the players, and we are sure that his appointment will be well received by the local football community.”
Neil takes over from Mick Cottington who put his hand up in 2017 to help the club out.
“We will always be grateful to Mick for stepping up when we needed him and we hope that he remains with the club in some position or other,” Farrell said.
Williams said that he was proud and excited to be installed as the Sharks coach.
In 2018 the Sharks are looking to their young players to step up into key positions, a challenge Williams is especially excited about.
“We have a lot of young talent within the club, and I’m confident that they will step up and make the Sharks a competitive force in 2018,” he said.
“I’m keen to start working with these young players and to re-engage with the older players.”
The Moruya Club are looking forward to a break before resuming training in January.
The Club is wishing to hear from any supporters or players interested in being involved in 2018.
The Sharks AGM will be held on Friday October 27th at 5.30pm at the Adelaide Hotel, and everyone is welcome to come along, have their say, and hopefully put their hand up for a role in 2018.
