Five members from the SES Batemans Bay Unit and one from the Moruya Unit were assessed competent in Urban Search and Rescue Category 1, on Saturday, March 18.
NSW SES spokesman Michael Day said they could now assist NSW Fire and Rescue with urban events such a building collapse.
“Examples would include the Thredbo landslide or the Newcastle earthquake,” he said.
Eurobodalla SES crew have qualified to attend urban rescue situations like the landslide at Thredbo.
