NSW Police revealed the man as 37-year-old Anthony Collins, who was reported missing on Saturday, April 15, after failing to return home.
Detectives have established Strike Force Thurston to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
Police said he was last seen on Friday evening leaving Catalina Country Club wearing a dark-coloured jumper over a darker-coloured collared shirt, sand-coloured pants, and light brown shoes.
Investigators have described Mr Collins as being of Caucasian appearance, about 175cm tall, of medium build, with light brown hair, with a receding hairline; and blue eyes.
They are appealing for information from the public to help establish the cause of death. Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
