Nathaniel Jan Leslie Visser, of Barrani Road, Lilli Pilli, appeared in Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday, March 27, on one charge of driving a vehicle with an illicit drug present in his blood.
Police said Visser was stopped for a random breath test on South Head Road, Moruya, shortly after midnight on December 18 last year.
Tests revealed the presence of methamphetamine, MDMA and cannabis in his system.
Visser told police he had consumed “speed” at a birthday party in Mossy Point the night before.
The 23-year-old, who was unrepresented, pleaded guilty to the charge, despite telling the court his drink had been spiked at a party.
The police prosecutor disputed the claim, stating it was not common for drinks to be spiked with cannabis.
Visser went back on his claim, admitting he had “smoked a joint”.
Magistrate David Degnan questioned Visser’s actions.
“Why take the stuff in the first place?” Mr Degnan said.
“You can still party… just don’t drink or take drugs.
“Just learn your lesson.”
Visser apologised for his actions, stating it was “completely out of character”.
He said he was misinformed about the time drugs stayed in one’s system.
Mr Dengan said he took into account Visser’s good presentation and references.
Visser was fined $400 and disqualified from driving for four months.
Police documents said Visser was a model in New York and Europe, earning up to $1 million a year.
He is understood to have been discovered at a music festival in 2013 by a Sydney agency and has gone on to model for some of the world’s top designers, including Emporio Armani, Givenchy and Moschino.
