Her guarantee came after she refused Councillor Phil Constable’s request to “rescind the decommission of the Albert Ryan Park toilets” as urgent business at the October 24 council meeting.
Cr Innes refused on two grounds: his request could have been placed on the agenda for public consideration, and the toilets were not immediately threatened.
“If any bulldozer moves in between now and then, I will stand in front of it,” Cr Innes said.
She said the council would continue to maintain the toilets and there was time for debate on a motion to rescind their demolition.
Leah Burke, of the community group, the Albert Ryan Park Committee, addressed the meeting and asked for the toilets to remain.
She reminded councilors of a 2016 petition to save the park from being sold.
“I can guarantee the community wishes the toilets to remain,” Ms Burke said.

She was surprised the toilets had not been protected in the draft plan for Recreation and Open Space Strategy (ROSS).
Councillors also voted to extend the plan’s public exhibition after errors and anomalies were noted – see story Page 10.
Cr Rob Pollock was absent from Tuesday’s meeting.
All others accepted a report and agreed to further discussion regarding potential parking in and around Clyde St when a new Batemans Bay bridge is built.
Cr Pat McGinlay observed council had previously supported a plan to remove the current bridge entirely, but said some entrepreneurs believed parts or all of the old bridge could be used by the community.
This won some sympathy from councillors Maureen Nathan and Anthony Mayne.
Infrastructure director Warren Sharpe said three NSW ministers had publicly stated the bridge would be entirely removed.
Councillor Mayne responded that it was “great the RMS and three ministers have a view, but our community also has a view”.
