Ratepayers in the South East region will vote to elect three local board members on the local board.
If you pay Local Land Services rates, you’re eligible to vote.
“By casting your vote you are helping to ensure that we have local people on our board, who understand our local community and who can provide input based on local knowledge and experience,” a spokesperson said.
South East Local Land Services Acting General Manager, Ken Garner, said one ratepayer from each holding could vote in the 31 May elections, but they must first enrol to receive ballot papers.
“Time is running out to enrol to vote in the 2017 elections, with the electoral roll closing on Friday, March 31,” Mr Garner said.
“We are focused on making this process as easy as possible for our ratepayers and have introduced easy online methods of enrolling, nominating and voting.
“We have introduced online voting to streamline the process for enrolled ratepayers to have a say about who from their region sits on local boards.
“All enrolled ratepayers will receive voting instructions either via email for online voting or a postal ballot material pack for those enrolled electors without email contact.”
People who receive email voting instructions will be able to opt to receive postal ballot papers.
“We are also calling for candidate nominations, which close at 12 pm on 10 April,” Mr Garner said.
Information about enrolling, nominating and voting can be downloaded from www.lls.nsw.gov.au, www.austelect.com or by contacting your nearest Local Land Services office.
