Although only Alana had a family member attend uni – her mum – all of the girls said they enjoyed the day.
Beauty and law enforcement were the most popular ambitions, with two of the girls hoping to become police officers (Cinnamon-lee and Paris), Alana looking at a higher degree in beauty and Alkyra keen to become a beauty therapist. Shayla bucked the trend, aiming for a career in the health sector.
Campus manager Jaimey Faccin said the day started as a pilot after an audit of job growth in the Eurobodalla Shire. “We discovered in the Eurobodalla we need more Indigenous people working in health and education,” she said.
“We hoped by raising awareness students might aspire to go into those areas when they finished school, and be able to work locally.”
