Three Forests NSW firefighters and two trucks are at the fire, which is burning on private and forestry land near Old Bolaro Rd.
Forest protection supervisor Julian Armstrong said the blaze was suspicious and there were three separate ignition points on forestry land.
“We have asked for it to be investigated,” Mr Armstrong said.
“There were three fires lit in State Forest and we don’t know who lit them.
“It is suspicious.
“There were three ignitions.
“The fact that someone is lighting up on State Forest worries me.”
Mr Armstrong said no properties were under immediate threat, but fire crews were taking precautions for one property off Paradise Road.
Strong winds have been blowing and forecast for the rest of the week and Mr Armstrong has appealed to anyone considering a hazard reduction burn to hold off.
“I would ask people thinking about doing burns themselves to hold off for a few days until the weather forecast is for less wind,” he said.
“They should also be talking to the local Rural Fire Service (RFS) as well to get some advice.”
Mr Armstrong said the blaze was being monitored.
“She is putting up a fair bit of smoke,” he said.
Meanwhile, RFS spokesman John Cullen said his firefighters had delayed a hazard reduction burn planned for the Moruya area until the weather settled.
