John Perkins installed a wildlife monitoring camera over a bower in Durras last week and captured the bird’s intriguing mating habits.
The images show a male satin bowerbird building a twig structure and collecting various blue objects in the hope of attracting a mate.
“Bowerbirds are regarded as having some of the most complex social behaviour of any bird studied in the world,” Mr Perkins said.
“Looking over the thousands of photographs taken by this motion detection camera, I can well understand why.
“Durras is a remarkable environment where wildlife is able to coexist with local residents.”
