Catching the eye are the lead singers the sexy dimpled Kylie Emmett and charming charismatic Cindy Reed.

They jangle bells, blow kazoos and talk to the audience during breaks.

We dance on the lawn and feel the urgency of Burn, Burn, Burn, my heart it is on Fire.

And the heart break in their popular song, I’m starting to think this whole thing is overrated.

Alec Mitchell has talent with his fiddle and mandolin that evokes Gypsy or Spanish moods; he stomps his feet and jumps off the stage at times.

Then there are the words of Rob Hamilton the guitarist and Linda Ferrier on keys.

Rob started writing songs and poetry as a kid in Wollongong.

“I had a jam night at my place in Moruya for years,” Rob said.

“You could bring a song that you wrote or we just made up stuff on the spot.”

 Now the Somedays have 70 songs and two CDs.

Completing the septet is bass player Mark Maranion and on drums Mitch Cowley.

Being a Moruya group I met them at the Vulcan Café.  

Cindy said, “Last year we did f47 gigs and seven festivals. 

“At Tamworth we did 10 exhausting, three-hour gigs, in about 40 degree heat.

“They described our music as CRIB, Country, Rap, Indie and Ballads.  

“CRIB is a new word. We can start a whole new genre. And you can be the first to say it.”

Rob said, “Our audience is aged from 6 to 106. We did a 101st birthday for a lady and I hope we will do her 102nd next year.”

Cindy chips in, “Private parties, they’re the best.”

I ask about, “The Big Time”.

Cindy says, “It only takes one good song to get out there but in the meantime, before that happens, you want to be ready.

“Yeah that would be great. Some of our songs deserve it.”

Michael Doyle their manager adds, “I think Guilty could go a long long way. And Time of Our Lives, our new ones.”

Cindy summed up what I feel at their performance, “The joy of music is playing with other people.”
