A couple had a slithery encounter during their morning walk at a shire beach on Wednesday when they walked straight into the path of a diamond python.
Peter and Karen Foster, of Malua Bay, spotted the two-metre-long python on a patch of grass near the Lilli Pilli beach car park on April 26.
“He was heading on his way back towards the beach, looking like he just had a feed,” Peter told the Bay Post/Moruya Examiner.
“It looked like he’d just had a rat or a small possum or a big lizard.”
Feeling slightly startled by the sight, Peter rushed to the car to advise Karen of the unexpected bypasser.
“I just got in the car and (Peter) told me to quickly get out of the car and take a photo,” Karen said.
“I thought there would be a tiny, little snake.”
A keen photographer, Karen battled her fears to snap several close-up shots of the snake.
“I was more worried about getting a good photo than the snake,” Karen joked.
