The NSW Teachers Federation has released data that shows the amount each public school will lose over the next two years.
In the Eurobodalla, the Federation said Batemans Bay Public School will be out of pocket to the tune of $1,165,993, while Batemans Bay High School will have $801,416 cut from its funding.
Moruya High School will lose $534,835, Moruya Public School $408,870, Narooma High School $424,895 and Narooma Public School $374,480.
Further north, Ulladulla High School’s funding will be cut by $933,040 and Ulladulla Public School’s by $683,409.
The union claims the Federal Budget has slashed more than $846 million in total from NSW public schools.
This money was due to be provided in 2018 and 2019 under the Gonski funding agreement signed by the Commonwealth and NSW governments.
Regional organiser of the NSW Teachers Federation Waine Donovan said students in all but 10 NSW public schools will lose out under the Turnbull Government’s plan.
“The Commonwealth signed up to provide $1.1 billion for 2018 and 2019 to help our NSW public school students achieve their educational potential,” he said. “This funding provides crucial extra support for students with additional learning needs.”
However Gilmore MP Ann Sudmalis has rebutted claims local schools will miss out under the Gonski 2.0 plan.
She said the funding announced in the recent budget was “truly reflecting” the changes David Gonski planned for better education.
“In our true application of David Gonski’s recommendations, we will deliver an extra $3.8 billion into NSW schools over the next 10 years,” she said.
“A $263 million share going to all 52 Gilmore schools, resulting in an increase of funding across the board.”
