After a highly successful 2016 when the club returned to Group 16 and contested three of the four grand finals, there is a high degree of anticipation of what is in store for the 2017 season.
“One of the most appealing things of playing junior rugby league for Batemans Bay is that the whole family can do it together,” club president Nathan Forrest said.
“Our whole club from under 7s right through to under 16s plays at the same venue every weekend. This is great for families as it means that travel costs can be reduced, but more so mums and dads can watch all of their kids play at the same venue on the same day.
“Junior rugby league is always played on a Saturday. We compete against teams from other towns south of the Bay such as Moruya, Narooma, Bega, Merimbula, Tathra and Eden.”
In the 2017 season the club will be fielding teams in Under 7s, 8s, 9s, 10s, 12s, 14s and 16s. In addition, for the first time the club will also be fielding Girls League Tag teams in the under 12 and under 16 age groups.
Training will start on Tuesday, March 7, at Mackay Park, and the first event will be the annual Bay 9s Tournament which will be played on Saturday, March 25 for the under 12 and 14 age groups.
The whole club will participate in the annual Bibbenluke Carnival on April 8, and the competition will start after Easter on April 22.
It’s now time to get registered. The best way to do this is to go to www.bayjuniortigers.sportingpulse.net and look for the red button that says “Click Here to Register Online”, then simply follow the prompts.
Alternatively if online is a challenge, simply come down to Mackay Park (located behind the swimming pool) on any Thursday afternoon at 4.30pm commencing March 9 and there will be someone on hand to assist you.
Any registration queries should contact the club registrar, Nathan Worthy, on 4472 1449 or 0431 911 449.
The registration fee for the 2017 season will be $120 per player. All players will receive at the start of the season a Bay Tigers training shirt and training shorts as part of their registration.
Any new players registering for the first time will also receive Bay Tigers playing shorts, playing socks and a boot bag.
