Chasing 159 , the side finished the day at 5/192 for a comprehensive final round win.
As has so often been the case throughout the season, opener Jack Gallen anchored his side’s innings, falling eight runs short of what would have been his sixth century of the season with a well-made 92.
He received strong support from fellow opener Mackenzie Clack (30), before cameos by Sean Griffin (13) and Ben Wiggins (25) helped the Bay past their target.
The Bay are now shaping as the team to beat in the finals, with the experience of a number of U14s winners from last season now part of the 16s set up. This weekend will have Batemans Bay taking on the 4th placed Bay and Basin at home. The winner of that game will advance to the grand final the following weekend to take on the winner of the second semi final between Bomaderry and North Nowra Cambewarra.
In the senior grades, the Bay seconds kept their slim semi final hopes alive with 44-run win against Bay and Basin at Sanctuary Point Oval on Saturday.
Defending 177, it took just 26 overs for the the visitors to secure the win, dismissing Bay and Basin for 133.
Luke Condon continued his purple patch of form, finishing with figures of 5/39 off 25 overs.
Captain Stephen Knight said Condon is reliable as they come.
“He’s a real heart and soul bowler,” he said.
“It’s nice knowing I can throw the ball to him and he will be able to bowl well for an extended period of time.”
Their third grade counterparts weren’t as lucky in their penultimate round match, losing by 43 runs to Berry-Shoalhaven at Hanging Rock.
Tom Purcell top scored for the side with 38 as they were dismissed for 118 chasing 161.
