Peter George Haley, 62, of Golf Links Drive, will remain in custody until at least March after his application for bail was refused in Batemans Bay Local Court on Monday, February 13.
Haley pleaded guilty to a string of charges including: two counts of being armed to commit an indictable offence, one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intimidating to intend fear of physical harm and knowingly driving a vehicle in a menacing manner.
In applying for bail, Haley, who was unrepresented, said he acted in self-defence after his son allegedly threw objects at his car.
Haley said he did not attempt to run his son over and claimed his son ran in front of his car.
Magistrate David O’Connor cited the seriousness of the offences, a history of violence and concerns for the welfare of the victim in justifying the refusal of bail.
Mr O’Connor adjourned the matter for six weeks to allow for a pre-sentence report and health assessments.
Haley will face court on March 27 for sentencing.
