I was honoured to be guest speaker at the Batemans Bay Hospital Auxiliary last week. Into the bargain, I scored myself a job as media officer … they saw me coming! What a great bunch of “gals”' and doing such a great job for our community, raising money for new equipment for our hospital. The new committee, appearing in the Fashionista photo with me this week are: Patricia Sweeney secretary, Ann McClintock president, Margaret Mitchell vice-president, Chris Smith regional representative and Jeannette Sinclair assist. secretary.

A very successful year for the auxiliary, doing 6113 volunteer hours and purchasing $81,445.66 of equipment for the hospital. The auxiliary will be out working hard again this year, having a new wish list of equipment for the hospital, so if you would like to help with such a worthwhile voluntary group, contact Ann as they are always looking for extra helping hands!

Congratulations Jenny on such a great business which is supported by locals and interstaters alike. I have a friend who as soon as she arrives says “Let's go down to the bead shop!”
Along with a group of friends, earlier this week, Jenny Scott attended a wonderful lunch at the Mantle Cafe, at Moruya TAFE. These lunches are put on from time to time, and all the cooking is done, in this case, by first-year apprentice chefs, and the wait staff are students of the Hospitality courses.
The whole experience was wonderful. From the lovely table settings, to the very attentive waiter, and the beautiful two-course meal, everything was just perfect. There were about four choices for both mains and dessert, and they ordered most, so they had a good range of beautifully cooked meals, served with a glass of wine, and petit fours with the coffee afterwards.
Meals were top class, and Jenny said if you did not know, you would think they were cooked by qualified chefs. Congratulations must go to all the students and staff involved. Our district restaurants will be in great shape, if all these students go on to work locally.
Christmas in July was celebrated in top style at "Cooinda Retirement Village" last week. Some 23 of the Young at Heart residents enjoyed a beautiful meal organised by Kay Livingstone and Eileen Mann and their helpers. The decorations were a lovely finishing touch. Then a birthday cake appeared for Joy Heywood! Her daughter felt we should all enjoy Joy’s 95th birthday, Black Forest cake was beautiful, Joy was thrilled with it all ....
Morag and Geoff Philpott recently came back to The Bay for a visit. They moved to Mooloolaba in Queensland, Morag has family and friends there.
They are enjoying their new home and lovely weather BUT .… Missing their great friends here at The Bay.
Geoff and Morag enjoyed visiting Geoff`s mother Margaret and sister Helen.
They had a lovely visit and saw as many friends as possible.
