Graham Herbert up at Moruya reports the sand flats at the Moruya River mouth has fished well for both flathead and whiting. Some good size bream have been caught on a run out tide at the hole in the wall using mullet fillet and prawns. Estuary perch and bream are being caught further upstream targeting snaggy banks with small, hardbodied lures.

The mouth of the Tuross system has been holding schools of tailor and also a few trevally. A few nice flathead have been landed at weedy edges of the channels. 

Full pilchards on a gang hook with a small running sinker has worked well. Whiting are starting to move around with reports of fish being caught from the Fourways up to the highway bridge. 

The reefs just off Moruya fishing well for mowie, nannygai, reds and other typical reefs species on squid and pillies. Plenty of flathead caught in 30 metres of water drifting Windsock beach using California squid and pillies.

THFC report – The Tuross Head Fishing Club Goblet Weekend "Measure In" and barbecue was held Sunday, October 22.  Daylight saving this month, so the "Measure In" time reverted back to summer time (4pm).  Although all fish were entered by photo, you are still able to bring your fish along to be measured in. 16 anglers on the water with six Ladies, 10 Men (no Juniors) who entered 37 fish.  

Unfortunately, none of them were Trout (Goblet fish), which is a shame as Trout served cold is delicious and was a favorite of Edward VII; he use to hold up the theatre intermission by an hour, in order to indulge in his favorite cold meal, that was brought along to the theatre with him in picnic baskets. Turkey of the Month awarded to Chris Tomkins, who in order to mark his fish cut of their tails before measuring!
