The Broulee boys took on a strong Marist College outfit in the semi-final in Canberra on Saturday.
The Marist team are known for their tenacity at the breakdown and they took the game to the Broulee forwards.
The game was a bruising encounter with both teams working hard to defend the advantage line.
Broulee were the first to score with Michael Diacomihalis dashing 30 metres after an incisive backline move to score in the corner.
Sam Reedy was the next to score, stepping his way to the line.
Marist fought back with a well deserved try after multiple phases, but Billy Jones had the final say before halftime, crashing through the defence to score.
Marist needed points quickly after halftime, and although they pressed hard, the Broulee defence held strong.
Josh Cairney then stepped up with a sensational try, making speed bumps out of the Marist defenders.
Not to be outdone Jones crossed for his second, swatting off five defenders on the way, to round out the game.
Marist fought hard to cross for two tries on the second half, but the damage was done, Broulee were victorious 27-15.
Coach Jon Brady was impressed by his team's performance.
"This was their most physical encounter of the season, Marist came out to dominate the breakdown and they were thwarted at every opportunity by our entire squad."
Asked what makes this team special, Brady answered "They are lionhearted in defence, often working well above their weight class.
“When they have the ball they are lethal, there are try scorers everywhere on this team.
“But best of all they are great bunch of mates who love their rugby."
The Under 13s will take on Wests in the grand final at Vikings Park on Saturday.
