Two trucks from the Moruya unit responded to the bonfire, around which there were about six people, at 5.53pm.
They contained rather than extinguished the bonfire.
A Fire and Rescue spokesman said the fire crews hosed around the fire to reduce it to a safer size and remained at the scene for about 30 minutes.
As the the property was on the border of the rural and residential areas of Moruya, no further action was taken.
A Moruya Fire and Rescue crew responded to a small fire lit by children on Sunday afternoon.
A Fire and Rescue spokesman said the two children were standing around the fire, which they had lit on a vacant block of property (not theirs) at the southern end of Vulcan Street near Moruya High School at 4.09pm.
The children were spoken to and the fire extinguished by the fire crew.
