Near perfect conditions greeted the riders from the Eurobodalla Dressage Association on the weekend as they took part in the club’s second competition for the year.

The competition consisted of Preparatory, Preliminary, Novice, and Elementary tests. In Preparatory Tests, only one test calls for canter, as these are the very beginning tests for horses and riders and are to promote confidence. Riders with a disability may compete in official competitions but need to have an exemption card if they require compensating aids.
Equestrian Australia, the body of which the EDA is an affiliate, provides official competition for seniors (over 21) youth riders (10-21) and pony riders (10+).
Eurobodalla Dressage Association publicity officer, Jenny Andrews, said dressage competitions relied heavily on volunteers from within the club.
“Without judges Cobie Brinkman, Hetty Munda, Liz Pugh and Lesley Gillis, there would be no competition,” she said.
“They donate many hours to the sport of dressage and their time is greatly appreciated by all riders and club members. Without volunteers the riders would have no local places to enjoy riding dressage.”
