There was quite a large crowd, including many of the senior Boars players there on the day to cheer and support their junior teams, showing just how deep this club is becoming.
From the kick off the under 10s realised quickly they had the run of the field against a fairly inexperienced rugby team who found defence difficult, especially against the experienced players like Luke Gallen and “Nugget” Collier who ran riot through the Eddies players setting other players up or scoring themselves.
The Boars pack – Mason, Will, Copper, Desmond and new recruit Cody – worked really well with Zandre Pietrse making some great charges through the opposition which gave the Boars backs further opportunities to take the ball up.
Jacob is steering our fast improving back line with Levi, Sam and the versatile Zac havIng an impact out wide.
By half-time the score was 36-0 to the Boars who had scored six tries with “Nugget” Collier making three conversions with some great goal kicking.
In the second half the Boars lent Eddies some of our experienced players including “Nugget” and Luke Gallen who inspired them to play much better Rugby Union and make more of a game of it.
They managed to score a good team try which was duly converted.
The Boars were only able to score two more tries in the second half.
Sam Blake had an outstanding game and scored his third try during this period.
Zandre, who is really coming on as a lock forward now, was well rewarded with a runaway try.
The young Boars tackled well and ran well with the ball and deserved their strong victory as a team.
The players just have to remember to always be looking for their support players in case they cannot make the line.
The final score for the match was 46 to 5.
Boars: Zandre Pietrse, Luke Gallen (2), Lachlan (Nugget) Collier (2) Sam Blake (3) Conversions: “Nugget” Collier (3).
St Edmunds tries (1).
