Latham’s Grip released ‘It’s Time’ recently after working on it for nearly a year and, already, it is making waves in the music world.
Guitarist Leland Foster said the response the song had got put the band on a high.
“It has been really, really great. We were a bit surprised by how many of our friends and supporters jumped on their and reviewed the song but it has shot up there,” he said.
“We are still climbing, the last time I looked we were number 24.
“Its not easy to get in the top 25 so it is cool that we have done it.
“There are thousands and thousands of songs up there and it is hard for many of them to get lots of attention but when there is a lot of support behind songs and a lot of reviews at once, it goes to the top.”
Leland said the first time anyone had heard the song outside a gig was when they released it onto Triple J Unearthed a week ago.
“We have been playing this song at gigs. We recorded the song a year ago but have been trying to make sure it is absolutely perfect,” he said.
The band hopes to have ‘It’s Time’ played on Triple J.
“Hopefully, they pick it up and give it a spin soon,” Leland said.
“It would really help with exposure.
“There are so many great artists and tracks out there but it is difficult to get attention. If you get spinned by a national broadcaster like Triple J, it really helps to get your music out there to a lot of people who have never heard of us, which is what we want.”
Leland said the band would release five other new songs on August 5.
“What we are releasing is the end result of six months of writing and recording,” he said.
“They are songs we are really proud of.
“The EP will be called ‘Real Dark Real Quick’ and it will be released on iTunes.”
The band will play eight shows on an upcoming tour that will take them along the east coast of Australia.
The up-coming tour is called ‘Hey, Hey It’s Saturday’ and will come to Sussex Inlet.
“We try and do two or three tours a year,” Leland said.
“Each tour, we try and get out as far as we can. We mainly do the east coast but we have played in Adelaide.
“The band members are based between the bay and Nowra.
“Batemans Bay feels like a bit of a home town because all of our friends come to the show and have a great time.”
