This would be the ninth one he has done and the first he would make in Mogo.
The process started with reading the College’s year books, sorting out the interesting stories and photographs, going to historical societies, and meeting ex students for their experiences. Many of the photographs were in a very bad condition and much retouching has taken place.
Wallace photographed interesting ex-students including sportsmen, lawyers, medical people, artists and people who have gone into the Catholic Church. 18th century letters from De La Salle in France were obtained to show the beginnings of the De La Salle Order.
When all the information was in, the design of the panels started. Wallace has spent many hours per day in front of his computer using Photoshop and InDesign.
Each panel, measuring two metres by 1.2 metres, represents one decade of history. The finished mural will be almost 13 metres x 2 metres.
An extra panel has been made for 2010 to 2016 to incorporate the celebrations from this year. The panels are printed on photographic paper, laminated and mounted on custom board. Small panels are mounted on top of the large ones to make a 3D look to the mural.
The last panel will be finished next week.
