Magistrate Doug Dick made the recommendation when the 39-year-old woman faced Bega Local Court on Tuesday charged with attempted murder.
Police from the Far South Coast Local Area Command charged the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, following investigations into injuries sustained by her son in Batehaven on Monday.
It’s alleged the woman was driving her vehicle near Corrigans Beach Reserve at about 3pm on May 9.
Police allege she drove into the reserve where her son was walking and struck him with her car twice.
Witnesses at the park came to the aid of the boy and he was taken to Batemans Bay Hospital with a suspected fractured collarbone.
The woman was arrested at the scene and was taken to Batemans Bay Police Station.
She was later charged with attempted murder, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and furious driving causing bodily harm.
The mother sat calmly in Bega Local Court on Tuesday afternoon, where bail was not applied for and the matter was adjourned to Batemans Bay Local Court on June 27.
