The centre visited Batemans Bay Hospital on its way around regional NSW and has been well appreciated.
It is a purpose built semi-trailer which includes a replica emergency room, hospital ward and computerised mannequins.
It simulates medical scenarios and uses virtual reality technology to create real-life medical situations.
Its visit was part of Simulation Week, in which the Eurobodalla Health Service partnered with the Health Education and Training Institute.
An open day was held on Tuesday with emergency services personnel from the likes of Fire and Rescue invited and treated to a barbecue.
Batemans Bay Hospital nursing and midwifery director Leanne Ovington said the simulator’s visit was “fabulous.”
“It has been a really good opportunity for our staff to access first class training without traveling, which is great because travelling is expensive,” she said.
Mobile Simulation Centre clinical nurse educator Kat Blake said the centre was for the benefit of all health professionals, including doctors, nurses, paramedics and also medical students.
It is giving people access to educational opportunities they wouldn’t normally have.

“It is great for training in patient assessment, management, resuscitation and care delivery,” she said.
“It is giving people access to educational opportunities they wouldn’t normally have.
“It allows professionals to train together in a safe place, and in a way that is relevant to how work is done at regional sites.”
The centre is owned by NSW Health and operated by the Health Education and Training Institute (HETI), and is on the road for 48 weeks every year.
Nowra-based centre manager Tod Adams said the Eurobodalla health staff responed well to the facility and its high fidelity equipment.
“Everyone found the centre really engaging and was enthusiastic and appreciated the opportunity,” she said.
The centre will now travel to the South Eastern Regional Hospital at Bega.
