The Moruya Business Chamber’s Matters Program has supported three community groups in April, including a program to boost the well being of teenage girls.
The Girl Campaign was the first recipient of $300 from the Moruya Matters Program and Moruya Touch Football and Moruya Soccer Club also each received $100.
Teacher Kimberli Eke developed The Girl Campaign.
“We aim to boost the self esteem and confidence of local girls said,” Ms Eke said.
“This is just amazing! The support from the Moruya community is overwhelming.
“We will use the funds to purchase much needed program resources.”
Shoppers receive a Moruya Matters token for each purchase made at participating businesses.
They then decide which community group to support by placing their token on one of three collection bags.
Michael Trkulja, of Eurobodalla Toyota, is one of the 24 participating businesses.
"Our business is heavily involved in our community and we are committed to continuing this goal through the Moruya Matters Program,” he said.
