The young and enthusiastic Group 16 side showed plenty of heart and resolve against a Group 6 side full of NRL experience, size and class. Well done to head coach Neil Williams and his assistant Michael Weyman for preparing the side and getting them to perform as a unit.
While beaten, the Group 16 boys were in the fight right to the end and it was only a couple of late tries that allowed the score to flatter the highlanders. Special mention to the Moruya players, Michael Weyman, Luke Jay, Dillon Johnston, Jake Clarke, Caine Brierley, Vinney Marino and Alex Stewart. who all played their part and did their Group and club proud.
Congratulations to Luke, Jake and Dillon, who along with Ryan Apps (Bega) and Joe Bobbin (Bombala) were selected in the Southern Region side.
Congratulations to Gab Smith from Mossy Point, who won the Husqvarna Mower in the clubs raffle drawn on the April 17. Gab was overjoyed and will get plenty of use out of the ride-on as she has some pretty big lawns to keep in shape. Second prize of a $500 voucher went to long time supporter Paul Smith from the Moruya Deli.
The Sharks are at home this Sunday against the combined Eden-Cobargo franchise. Under 18s kick off at 10.30am, followed by the ladies at noon, Reggies at 1pm with first grade taking the paddock at 2.40pm.
A great day of football is assured as the Sharks strive to remain undefeated in season 2016.
