Luckily no one was injured. I would like to thank the services that attended - police, fire and tow truck company for their efficiency and helpfulness.
Bystanders were very kind, especially Jacki, Linda and the gentleman from the Department of Primary Industries, Fisheries - I appreciated it.
Also, the insurance company assisted quickly to help me.
Thank you.
There are some great people in town.

Bats spreading their wings
I wonder if the Eurobodalla Shire Council is aware that through their inaction our resident bat colony is slowly, but surely, taking over the southern section of the towns CBD?
This putrid infestation has now spread its overnight roosting from behind the RSL, up through the Water Gardens and, over six months, has grown to now include the Bent St ridge residential area.
On the back of recent inquiries I've made, not only has this growing flock of winged rats turned the supposed pristine gardens’ into a stinking filthy mess, but they have rendered the whole area unfit for human use.
“You can't or would take your kids in there," one visiting family recently informed me. Not only are we losing what should be a pleasant attraction, it has become a turn-off for visitors.
On top of that, if strong action is not undertaken, soon, the only thing the Bay will be rated number one at is number twos.
This is a growing problem that is not only very unpleasant for those living in town, but will eventually have a detrimental effect on those wishing to come here for a pleasant holiday.
This issue has not been addressed nor heeded, even after loud protests, by our local officialdom, who seem to have swept it under the carpet, using the time-honoured ostrich defense of burying their collective heads in the sand.
Time to smell the roses Eurobodalla Shire Council.
Do something before the outbreak of serious illness and before tourism decline leads to an outraged rate-payer uprising.
This stinks and so does the council's inaction on this matter.
Gee, is amalgamation really going to help when dealing with things like this?
I wonder?

Open letter on HuntFest
An open letter to Councillors Burnside, Schwarz, Pollock, Leslight, Innes and members of the evaluation panel on Eurobodalla Shire Council (whose recommendation it was to give HuntFest another five years of gun proliferation and promoting safari/trophy hunting in our Nature Coast).
Can you honestly say to me that you all read through the tender documents from the Animal Justice Party and the Shooters Clubs, absorbed all the information, understood the economic and social benefits to the shire in the long term, but still voted in favour of the South Coast Hunters Club tender?
If the answer is “yes”, then I really have to question your competency in the understanding of economics and your ability to gauge the mood of the general public or silent majority.
You did not listen to the people from across all sections of the community - church elders, Aboriginal elders highly respected economic experts, including Professor Steve Garlick, from the Animal Justice Party, qualified legal opinion and the silent majority. The silent majority will be heard.
This is not over, we can assure you.

In contrast ...
On Saturday, I had the great pleasure of visiting the MACS Art and Craft Exhibition located in the Narooma Sports and Leisure Centre.
What an incredible display of local talent was on show for all to see. The art works reflected the beautiful area in which we live, with seascapes, wildlife and bush scenes portrayed through various mediums. Congratulations, MACS, for a great show.
On leaving the show I thought about another event that will be held in these premises in three months time; an event that has nothing in common with this shire. An event that has now been given approval to operate for another seven years. An event that celebrates death and killing.
It is now time for the silent majority to speak up about such an event. You will have your opportunity in less than six months time at the next council elections. Make sure your vote counts and remove this stigma on our community forever.

A bouquet ...
Thank you for publishing Standing up for the public, not a party, by your reporter, Emily Barton, in which she shared her outrage at the lack of transparency from the Eurobodalla Council meeting on March 22, where the gallery refused to leave while they voted on the June long weekend; re Huntfest and the Animal Justice Party.
Must we remind councilors that they are in council on behalf and for the people who voted them in.
We have a right to know the reasons for their vote and not have them go behind closed doors.
