There were not a lot of anglers with the confidence to tackle these conditions and for those that did, encouraging the fish to bite was another matter, even so there were one or two good boxes presented at weigh-in.
The three species out of the bag were whiting, kingfish and game fish. The latter two went begging and the whiting went to young Andrew Tinsley with a not so commendable King George whiting.
The blue water winner was Phil Boneham with a 1.810kg Morwong. He was also the monthly senior cock-o-the walk for February. The junior cock-o-the walk was young Dylan Golden with a very commendable 1.430kg Morwong.
The rock, beach and estuary winner was young Tom Cargill with a medium-sized flathead.
Keep an eye on the notices for the Rae Kennedy memorial competition which will be held on the Easter Sunday, weigh in will be at 2pm on the day.
A small nominal registration fees will will have to be paid prior to the competition Friday and Saturday night.
All prizes will be in cash for selected species which will cover blue water and rock, beach and estuary species. This has been a very successful competition over the past three years and is open to senior and junior visitors.
Tomakin Fishing Club’s next monthly competition is on Sunday, March 6, so until then keep those rods held high and those lines tight.
