A man was smashed in the face with a glass during a fight in a Sydney beer garden on Wednesday night, police say.

The 25-year-old man was left with serious cuts to his face and lips after he was glassed during the fight in a pub in Newtown about 10.35pm.
Police are searching for the man who struck him. The attacker is believed to have left the hotel on Australia Street with a wound to one of his hands and climbed into a taxi on nearby King Street.
Police described him as Caucasian, aged in his 30s, with a solid, muscular build. He was wearing a grey T-shirt and either beige or khaki pants.
The men are not believed to have known each other before the fight broke out, police said.
The injured man was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for treatment.
