New speed limits
It is very pleasing to see that that speed limits along Beach Road between the High School and the Surf Beach roundabout have been reduced - in part - to the very appropriate 50km/h per hour. But for some most peculiar reason rather than having the whole stretch classified as 50km/h - ie: suburban parts have been left at 60km/h per hour and to add to the peculiarity a 60km/h section is right in front of the primary school! Is this an error or just plain stupidity?

The unspoilt South Coast
The most recent Eurobodalla holiday guide is a beautifully illustrated booklet designed by council staff to promote tourism in our region. Its guidelines for “a quintessential family holiday” include surfing, cycling, bushwalking, fishing and boating in a glorious seaside/bushland environment. It saddens me however that also listed among the yearly events is HuntFest – the American-style celebration held every June on crown land in the heart of Narooma. Such an event is totally at odds with the life-affirming ethos of the shire and the welfare of its citizens. A wall of guns for sale, a deer being skinned, a booth promoting safaris in Africa, animal heads on walls, or photographs of hunters with their kill, cannot be what our shire is about (regardless of the tenuous claims of financial benefits for the electorate).
Recently one councillor expressed the opinion that a festival of hunting rated no more attention or debate than a “Teddy Bear’s Picnic” and there was no connection between HuntFest and the sale of guns! He and other councillors appeared to believe it would neither be inappropriate or illegal to extend the licence for a further five years. If you do not want this pristine area to become a mecca for hunters and a public outlet for guns, please contact the Eurobodalla Shire Council before it’s too late and our enviable reputation as the “unspoilt South Coast NSW” is “shot”.

Holiday traffic
I felt sorry for all those holiday makers heading home on over the holidays. I am told that the traffic at times was banked up back to the Tuross turn off from that ridiculous set of traffic lights at Queen Street Moruya...The Moruya town planners included two cross streets (Queen and Church streets) and they got neither of them to line up. That is just plain dumb..As a result it plays havoc with the through traffic and will for ever more until something sensible is done. I wonder does the Shire still have a traffic management committee ..? Secondly, is it not part of the police highway patrol`s duty to move the traffic safely and smoothly...? Really, how hard is it to tun off the traffic lights and put an officer on point duty to alleviate the congestion... Just a thought.

A corrupt fraud
The ultimate aim of the ‘CoP 21 Paris meeting’ agreement was hidden by hyper-political vagueness. Deemed a huge success, it was fully supported by our Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Environment Minister, even though Australia rejected socialism in the last century. The ‘CoP 21 Paris agreement” is a fundamental part of the long established process pursued by the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change to transform the economic development model for our world. We little people may well ask- “CoP 21- what was it?, where will it lead?, will it impact Australia’s economy and its attempt to achieve a balanced budget and when?, do our parliamentary and community representatives know? Do the people know? Do the voters know? Above all, who pays for it? This deceitful UNFCCC process is traced from its supporting agency, the UNIPCC’s (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) scientific assessment meeting on 27-29 November 1995 in Madrid.
That meeting accepted a corrupt and fraudulent action by Dr Ben Santer, a single activist scientist who rewrote the agreed wording determined by all the other scientists who had participated in writing the key Chapter 8 (Detection of Climate Change and Attribution of Causes) of the Second Assessment Report, into the directly opposite and alarmist terms of “The balance of evidence suggests a discernible human influence on global climate”. This allowed the chapter to agree with the politically contrived ‘Summaries for Policymakers’ - the key documents used to direct UN member nations to transform their economic policies in order to achieve world socialism. Our senior Ministers have much to explain!

Our commercial obesity
Was anyone else left with a lot of questions after seeing and hearing all the ‘sales hype’ and the ensuing shopping mania. We were primed so well..given extra hours even 'all night’ in some shopping centres. What have we become? We’re no longer referred to as men and women just consumers. Instead of buying what we need, when we need, as previously. We’ve now enshrined shopping as a ritual in our day. So brainwashed that many feel they have to have the very latest upgrade of some items. They’ll queue for hours.
How have we come to this? We have certainly allowed our children to be indoctrinated from their earliest years so their desire for ‘things’ gets well entrenched. We train them up for the powers that be. I suppose the fact that now things are manufactured to only last a short time….is one of the reasons. We’re told “It’s cheaper to get anew one than get it ‘fixed" . What would happen if we ceased playing into this game of manipulation? Ceased being ‘Consumers’? Reclaimed our power as ’human beings’ each unique, gifted, and extraordinary with a specific purpose for being on the planet?
